I know that community events are held at the gazeboo.  What I would like to know is whether or not South Park residents can rent the gazeboo for weddings?

The gazebo and the boulevard are City of Dayton properties. The City cuts the grass and puts down mulch, while the neighbors tend the garden beds. We have had many events in the gazebo, and there is no rental fee. It would be great if you could check with Historic South Park Inc. when you have chosen a date to make sure we have no conflicting festival or event planned that day. And also so we can let the neighbors know there will be an influx of people and cars for a joyous wedding.

My cost of living in South Park has risen drastically in the past seven weeks.  I live at 31 Park Dr and my vehicle, which I park in front of my residence has been broken into and vandalized 3 times.  Each time the value of the stolen property was small in comparison to the damage done to my vehicle.  It happens in the early morning hours when all sane people are asleep.  I am tired of it.  If I catch the SOB his/her medical bills will far exceed my losses.  If you have any ideas other than staying up all night I would appreciate them.

Curt,
In case you haven’t already done so, I’m forwarding your information to Kevin Moran at anticrime@historicsouthpark.org. I’m guessing you’ve already been talking to our Community Based Police about this and received their insights and advice. Have you come to our monthly meetings to hear the neighborhood police report and ask questions? You have probably already alerted the neighbors on your block to be vigilant? Some of our neighbors have installed security cameras and could share how it’s working for them. You are also welcome to join our South Park Security walkforce, where we call each other up as needed and agree to walk through any suspicious area (at varous hours and days) as a group wearing neon shirts to let folks know we are watching. Although as you say, working people can’t stay up all night. I’m sure you’re right about the crime being committed by the same person each time, and the police might have an idea who in the area needs their attention. This is really rotten an I’m sorry it happened.

Hey neighbors!

We’re new on the block; so, when and where is the monthly meeting of August 2010 going to be held?

Thanks

Welcome Amaro family!
Because everyone is so busy in the summer, we will not have an August meeting. The next one is scheduled for Tuesday, September 28, 7pm. At Hope Lutheran Church, 500 Hickory (at Perrine).
I hope you will attend the next Porch & Patio Party, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 21st, 6-10pm. There will be an email going out two weeks before that telling where the parties will be. I will put your email address on our distribution list and also give it to the head of our block captains to make sure you get introduced around.
Thank you for contacting us! We look forward to meeting you!
