President’s Report – Mark Manovich

  • Neighborhood Presidents Forum: 2026 city budget discussed; ~$124M allocated to Fire and
    Police.
  • Recycling: Non-recyclable items in bins prevent pickup. Martha to update recycling list.
  • Trash/Recycling Cans: Must be removed from streets/alleys within 24 hours after pickup.
  • Leaf Pickup: Scheduled for the week of 11/17/25 and the week of 1/5/26.
  • Fire Department Updates: Senior/disabled outreach calls available Mon–Fri; Free smoke and CO detectors available by request.
  • Housing Code Enforcement: 12-point yard standards checklist being implemented by City of Dayton.
  • November HSPI Executive Team Elections: Must be a member to vote.

Committee Reports

Marketing & Communications – Sarah Morris:
– 10/31: Halloween family night & hot dog roast (5–6 PM).
– 12/13: Holiday Party at the Dugans (5–8 PM).
Parks – Karin Manovich:
– Gazebo inspection completed; can likely be saved. City getting repair estimates—fundraising
may be needed.
Membership – Kristina Scott:
– 88 members to date.
Housing – Karin Manovich for Nick Vanderpool:
– Compiling list of neighborhood Airbnbs; contact Karin with updates.
– Tire facility on Oak Street—ongoing zoning violations under review.
– 429 Oak Street—foreclosed and boarded up; report trespassing to police.
Finance – Galen Wilson:
– HSPI remains solvent.
– $500 donation to Veritas for meeting space.
– Veritas planning handicap ramp addition.
– Suggestion: Donation box at the Holiday Party.
PDI – Karin Manovich:
– Audio walking tours coming to historic districts (QR codes).
– PDI to install signs in the neighborhood with QR codes for the walking tour.
– PDI’s development arm purchased its first property for renovation.

New Business
Joyce and Trish join as new social team—share event ideas with them.

Announcements
Pottery and bagel shop expected to open next year at Hickory & Wayne.
