The Dayton Chapter of the American Institute for Architects (AIA) and Historic South ParkThe Block Party celebrated weeks of work envisioning South Park for the future. To commemorate its 150th anniversary, “A!A150”, the professional association chose to donate its time to an urban renewal project, and chose South Park to receive its hours of free work.
The result is Blueprint for South Park: A Gift to Our Community. That gift was celebrated on a beautiful afternoon in Blommel Park, Saturday, June 26th. The five major working groups, made up of architects and citizens, presented their final design sketches while South Park residents, guests from neighboring communities, mayor McLin, and members of the city commission enjoyed food and beverages provided by South Park’s own Pizza Factory, live entertainment by South Park’s Staudt-Poly Jazz Duo, and audio system by South Park’s Nancy’s Karaoke.
Did you miss it? No worries. Images of the designs, a brief history of the design process, and links to media coverage can also be found on the AIA Dayton website.
