Brush up your Shakespeare and help stage The Merry Wives of Windsor

Shakespeare in South Park, in conjunction with Hope Lutheran Church, has just finished auditions for its 2011 production, The Merry Wives of Windsor, which will be performed September 16, 17 and 18. Rehearsals begin soon! The Merry Wives of Windsor, one of Shakespeare’s most enduring comedies, features his recurring ‘fat knight’ character Sir John Falstaff. Here is a quick overview: The play “takes place in an age when males often regarded females as playthings and when parents often chose the suitors for their daughters. But it is the women who win the day in this comedy. Two ordinary housewives, Mrs. Page and Mrs. Ford, get the better of a gold-digging philanderer, Falstaff.”
